Regular washing keeps your topper soft, glossy, and full of life but it’s important to do it the right way to preserve its natural beauty and longevity.

How frequently you wash your topper depends on how often you wear it. As a general guide, we recommend washing it every 2–4 weeks. If you wear your topper daily or use styling products regularly, you may wish to wash it more often when it starts to feel heavy or coated with product build-up. If you wear it occasionally, stretching washes further apart helps maintain the hair’s natural shine and moisture balance.

Tip: Over-washing can cause dryness, so remember less is more!

Always use salon-grade, sulphate-free and paraben free products to gently cleanse and protect your topper. These formulations help maintain hydration, reduce tangling, and prevent the hair from becoming dry or brittle. We recommend products that are moisture-based, lightweight, and designed specifically for human hair

1. Prepare the Water

Fill your sink or basin with lukewarm water, not hot, as high temperatures can dry the hair. Add a coin-sized amount of shampoo to the water and mix until it’s evenly distributed.

2. Cleanse Gently

Hold your topper by the cap and dip it gently into the soapy water, swishing it through to cleanse the strands without rubbing or twisting. Repeat this process until the hair feels clean. You may shampoo twice if needed.

3. Condition with Care

Empty the sink, refill it with fresh lukewarm water, and add a small amount of conditioner. Using the same dipping motion, coat the hair evenly. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the cap or base as this can loosen the delicate knots over time.

4. Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse your topper under cool running water until all product is removed. Gently squeeze out the excess water (never wring or twist).

5. Hydrate & Nourish

Once a month, treat your topper to a lightweight hydrating mask, especially if it’s blonde or light in colour. Leave the mask on for the recommended time before rinsing thoroughly.

Pat dry gently with a soft towel and avoid rubbing.

Allow your topper to air dry on a stand whenever possible.Once dry, style using heat tools on a low–medium setting and always apply a heat protectant spray.
